Differential object flagging is a subtype of °differential object marking in which different subtypes of °P-arguments are °flagged differently.
Since differential object flagging (DOF) is the best-known subtype of differential object marking (DOM), the term DOM is sometimes taken to refer primarily (or only) to DOF. However, differential object indexing (DOI) is another common type of DOM (Haspelmath 2026).
